WORKSHOP

On the weekend Sally and I went out to see what was going on. We managed to make a stop at the rather disappointing Rosemont, and got "politely" harassed by two young gentlemen.

One claiming to be all for gay rights and gay marriages and promptly whipping out his iPhone, to what end I do not know, and stating he didn't like our jackets. The other stating, I quote "I fu**ing love Topshop, it's fu**ing MAD yeah?" who happened to be a Drum'n'Bass MC from the UK, and claimed to LOVE our jackets.

We decided to end this madness, finished out cocktails and crossed the road to attend the opening of Workshop. Workshop is a little combined shop and studio space showcasing some of Adelaide's emerging fashion designers; Lachy Lang, Julie White, Alice Rawlinson of Divine Madness and Gemma Stocks of Petronella. It is made possible by the Renew Adelaide project which aims to support urban renewal and encourage creative industries, something that should turn out to be a fantastic thing for Adelaide, if it can keep up and running for a longer period of time. I think this probably relies on the quality of the participants in the project and Adelaide City Council's opinion regarding the success of the project.

Go and have a look - Workshop is located at 151 Hindley Street, Adelaide.

TIPS!

Have you ever come across an image online, of say a runway show, or a single shot from an editorial but whoever has posted it online has not bothered to credit who it's by, so you have no idea how to find out more about the products/shoots in question? I have. SO many times. And all I end up doing is randomly typing what I think are relevant keywords into Google Images to try and find some sort of a link to the work...

Well, THERE IS A SOLUTION! (goodness, I sound like a television sales person...)
TinEye. You just paste the image link in, or upload an image that you've saved on your computer, and it tells you where else on the web that image appears! So you can find the original source, or somewhere where it was posted with proper crediting. It's also useful if you want to find higher quality versions of the same image.

My dad actually told me about this ages ago, but it was still in its testing stages at the time and as such not very effective, but I tried it out just then and it worked!

Also, there's another nifty site; Idée Labs. It does things like: finds images by colour/multiple colours, and you can upload your own image and it will find images that it thinks are similar on the web.

NEED + ADORE

This top by Arnsdorf, the mauve Reflections Top from the SS10/11 "Opticks" collection, is amazing.
It's made of silk with a structured neoprene chest panel.
Currently available on pre-order at Maxmillia...

Continuing on my theme of being obsessed with pastel pinks and purples, I would really like a nice pair of pants for winter. I have that one black pair but one pair will not suffice. This pair from Opening Ceremony by Suno are fantastic, and they're on sale!

The other option is the Polyester High-Waist Pleat Pant or the Unisex Jumper Pant from American Apparel... both relatively cheaper options than the Suno pair.

ILL DRAPE

I've managed to get myself a cold in the last 48hours (probably from sitting on cold cement while its 9℃ out) so I've just been sitting around, eating marshmallows. I decided I may as well do something even slightly productive, so here I am, sharing with you my dear Alpha60 draped top from their SS09/10 collection. It's a cotton with a slight sheen to it, and it's cropped at the back. As you can probably tell, I am unsatisfied with a plain image and always have an uncontrollable impulse to Photoshop images...so that's my excuse for me being a quadruplet..

RAID + UPDATE

This is a garter belt/leg brace thing I made a little while ago for the Attitude Magazine "Special Forces" shoot. It reminds me of Lara Croft's Tomb Raider outfits... Made of all leather, with black rivets and adjustable waist.

And here is the finalised (to some extent) hair. James at Gang bleached the hell out of it and now its up to me to throw in a variety of Fudge Paintbox Colours in with my conditioner, as I desire. For this weeks wash I rinsed with Fudge Paintbox Whiter Shade of Pale, and then conditioned with Fudge Paintbox Purple Haze on the roots for a few minutes.

SHOOT #2 : THE HUMORS

The Humors succeeded the first set. We did it on the same day and found that it spiraled into something completely different to Katherine. She got a little more interactive with the camera, almost a little more powerful. The title comes from the medieval idea of the four humors - choleric, melancholic, phlegmatic and sanguine - that were once associated with mental characteristics but were also recognised by colour. These four moods affected our choice of colours in each shot. Kat wears dress by Acne and bodysuit by American Apparel.

SHOOT #1 : KATHERINE

We have finally decided to post the first lot of photos from our first test shoot ever. This is kinda like a big deal for us as we'd been planning it for a while, and have taken about a month to actually edit the photos. We shot our friend Kat in a church that some other friends live in using a Canon G11, a digital Harinezumi #2, and a Nikon d60. Results were interesting to say the least.

Matea was the electronics queen and Sally did hair and makeup, and we both took photos simultaneously all day with a short donut break to create two sets of photos; Katherine and The Humors.

Katherine was our way of easing into the whole process - we aimed for ethereal, unkempt, and altogether beautiful - and both Kat and the church made that pretty easy to do. We hope you enjoy these photos.

LAVENDER CRUMBLE

I got my hair done last week. The idea was to go lavender, but its not quite finished yet. Some more severe bleaching needs to be done and then some nice calming dyeing. Anyway here is the progress so far, which, to tell you the truth, I don't mind all that much!

CHLSVGNY

The new Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony is pretty great. Its perfect for those of you who want to look like prime, low-maintenance girlfriend material. I want that! But more than anything, I want her haircut- that fucking perfect kink and blunt blunt blunt end haunts my dreams.
